AC OUTLAW (MOST RECOMMENDED)
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Before proceeding, please review all restraints.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- AC Outlaw Herbicide can be applied year-round. The herbicide becomes effective once sufficient rainfall allows it to penetrate the root zone of woody plants, where it is absorbed. For the fastest results, apply just before the onset of seasonal rains. The herbicide’s effects will continue for multiple seasons, causing woody plants to undergo repeated defoliation and regrowth until they die. Typically, a single application remains effective for several years.
- As woody weed competition diminishes, forage grass production tends to increase, provided there is adequate rainfall and proper grazing management. To maximize grass production, allow grasses to seed and seedlings to establish before increasing grazing pressure. Treated areas may also be seeded with appropriate pasture species. Consult your agricultural specialist for guidance on seeding rates, timing, and fertilization.
- The herbicide’s residual activity can be compromised if a fire occurs before the clay pellets have fully dissolved and the chemical has reached the root zone.
Hand Application
- When applying AC Outlaw Herbicide by hand, wear gloves and distribute the pellets evenly over the area after measuring the recommended quantity. A simple way to calibrate is by weighing a handful of pellets. For example, if a handful weighs 20 grams, this amount can treat 20 to 40 square meters at a rate of 0.5 to 1 gram per square meter.
- For the dispenser pack, apply one 7-gram dose evenly, treating between 3.5 and 7 square meters at a rate of 1 to 2 grams per square meter.
Additional Hand Application Instructions:
- Distribute pellets under the tree or regrowth canopy, from the root crown or stems to 30 cm beyond the drip zone.
- Complete plant death depends on factors like soil type, rainfall, root depth, plant species, plant density, and herbicide application rate.
- In some cases, plants may undergo several defoliations over a period of 6 months to 2 years before dying.
- Treating Individual Trees by Hand
- To treat individual trees, estimate the area 30 cm beyond the drip zone (the area under the plant canopy). Spread pellets evenly from the tree trunk to beyond the drip line. Avoid placing all pellets at the base of the tree, as this could lead to wasted product and poor results.
Treating Clumps of Trees or Regrowth by Hand
For regrowth areas, estimate the area within 30 cm beyond the drip zone and apply pellets in a grid pattern to ensure even distribution. Try to apply pellets over the top of regrowth for better coverage.
Treating Fence Lines by Hand
Estimate the area to be treated along the fence line and apply pellets evenly on both sides, extending 30 cm beyond the drip zone.
Aerial and Ground Application
- AC Outlaw Herbicide can be applied using aircraft or ground-driven air equipment, calibrated to achieve the correct application rate. As with hand application, apply at any time of the year, and ensure that sufficient rainfall follows the application to carry the herbicide into the root zone.
- The herbicidal effects will continue for several seasons, causing repeated defoliation and regrowth until the target plants die. Grass production will increase as woody weed competition decreases, assuming adequate rainfall and effective grazing management.
- It is essential to allow grasses to seed and seedlings to establish before increasing grazing pressure. Consult your agricultural specialist for recommendations on overseeding with pasture species and for advice on seeding rates, timing, and fertilization.
- Be mindful that the residual activity of the herbicide may be affected if a fire occurs before the clay pellets dissolve and the chemical moves into the root zone.
Aerial Application
Aerial application can be carried out using fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters equipped with specialized apparatus. Use a Positive Metering Device (Meterate) for fixed-wing aircraft or Isolair (or similar equipment) for helicopters. Ensure a minimum flying height of 20 meters above the canopy, and mark target areas accurately, using GPS or visible markers to aid navigation.
Ground Application
Ground applications should be carried out by accredited operators using appropriate equipment.
CLEANING APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
After use, thoroughly clean any equipment used to hold or apply AC Outlaw Herbicide pellets, including buckets and gloves.
